Mystery Plant Brightens Southern Rivers With Rare Amaryllis Link
A rare bulb forming plant, related to amaryllis, thrives only in rocky river shoals across South Carolina Georgia and Alabama. It blooms briefly each evening with a white cup and six spidery stamens, then seeds drift to new cracks. Habitat loss from dammed rivers endangers remaining populations in Landsford Canal State Park and Cahaba River areas.
