Stella Mullins 78 joined eight other local residents laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery during Aiken County's annual pauper burial. Cadiente spoke of caring for her mother after a stroke and receiving a Godsend solution when no life insurance existed. Local businesses and organizations donated urns headstones flowers and a tent with cremation by funeral homes to honor the unclaimed deceased.

SCE&G seeks nearly 3 percent electric rate hike

SCE&G filed a rate increase request with the South Carolina Public Service Commission and the Office of Regulatory Staff to cover financing costs for two nuclear plants near Jenkinsville. A residential bill would rise about 4.32 dollars for 1 000 kilowatt hours, with potential effects starting in October.
