Jackson Votes First Read to Increase Tax Millage

Two Land Tracts Added To Hitchcock Woods
The Hitchcock Foundation announced the purchase of 229.5 acres across two tracts from six heirs of the late Thomas Hitchcock. The 140 acre Dolan Hill area adjoins foundation properties, Dolly von Stade Bostwick, and nearby homes. the 89.5 acre tract lies near the Southern Railroad right of way opposite Highland Park. The sale price was not disclosed.

Blind woman to ride 300 miles for unemployment message
Earlene Gardner will start a two week horseback journey from Summerville to Pickens to highlight 70 percent unemployment among employable blind people in South Carolina.
