Aiken County Farmers Market will start accepting SNAP benefits on Tuesday August 1 at 115 Williamsburg St offering local produce and goods. The Healthy Bucks program doubles SNAP purchases of at least five dollars to ten dollars in tokens, and DSS administers SNAP locally with eligibility through county offices.
John Zentz has been elected and installed as commander of Jesse C. Lynch Memorial Post 71 the American Legion after 15 years as a member. He plans to expand and strengthen programs for veterans families and the community while continuing existing efforts and inviting more veterans to join. He served in the Navy including time on USS Shark and held roles in the Legion Riders Sons of the American Legion and Ladies Auxiliary. Post 71 hosts weekly breakfast meetings and monthly member gatherings with public access.
