JD Carr 90 of New Ellenton died July 26 2012 after a brief illness. A funeral service will be held July 28 2012 at 11 a.m. in Aiken Memorial Gardens under George Funeral Home and Cremation Center care. He was born in Elizabethton Tennessee son of the late Jack and Harriet Sams Carr retired from the St Dupont painting department and belonged to Local 1756 Painters Union and Pine View Baptist Church. He was predeceased by his wife Hattie Mae Carr. Surviving are his sons Calvin W Carr and Steve Carr Debra of New Ellenton and 16 grandchildren. The Car family is noted in the obituary text.

Col. Timothy Wagoner a long serving Air Force chaplain left the Southern Baptist Convention after SBC leaders questioned his attendance at a same sex civil union ceremony at a New Jersey base. TransCanada announced final Army Corps of Engineers approval for the Gulf Coast segment of its oil pipeline from Alberta to Texas.
