Girl bitten by shark off Pawleys Island in waist-deep water
A seven year old girl was bitten on the right foot by a shark while swimming in waist deep water near Pawleys Island. Dean Cain of the South Carolina Natural Resources Department described an eight inch wound and estimated the shark at five to six feet long. The girl, from Dalton, Georgia, was treated at Georgetown Memorial Hospital and released.
