Russell Baker defends intellectual journalism while contrasting George Will and Marcel Proust. The writer admits he is not an intellectual journalist and jokes about reading and quoting philosophers. He remarks on self image, persistence of plain living, and a disdain for pretension in journalism. Cowles Syndicate inc.
