Students Help Feed Endangered Wood Storks at Silver Bluff
Fox Creek High School students and science teacher Mark Komoroski aided Audubon at Silver Bluff Sanctuary to reduce largemouth bass in a pond to boost bluegill numbers for wood storks. The group used a seine and boats to herd bass, cleaned and filleted fish for an August fry, and discussed future pond work with sanctuary manager Dan Connelly. A fundraiser titled Storks and Corks is planned for August 12 to support ongoing pond maintenance and habitat oxygenation.
