Drive-ins endure on affordability and nostalgia at The Big Mo

The Monetta Drive-In known as The Big Mo thrives on family friendly pricing and nostalgia amid declining drive-ins. Owner Richard Boaz, a librarian by day, says the business stays afloat when it pays for itself and remains enjoyable. The article notes drive-ins peaked in 1958 with 4063 theaters and today 433 remain nationwide, with Ohio and Pennsylvania leading at 37 each. Boaz renovated the Monetta site after buying in 1998 and reopening in 1999, upgrading projectors and adding an FM audio feed to improve sound.
