Cuban dissidents released after anti-protest roundup
Cuban opposition leader Martha Beatriz Roque and two other women were freed Saturday after a Friday roundup in Havana aimed at quelling protests outside the French Embassy. Detainees included veteran dissidents Rene Gomez Manzano and Felix Bonne. up to 20 people were detained. The U.S. State Department condemned the arrests as a repression of basic rights.
