Regions Financial Corp officials announced a merger with St. James Bancorporation of Lutheir La. Louisiana shareholders will receive Regions stock valued at about 43 million dollars. The deal aims to close in late year pending approvals.
Bobby Buckley and Ashley Riviere join the week long Pony Camp sponsored by the Aiken Parks and Recreation at Rye Patch. Lisa Smith leads riding drills with Munchkin and Magic Rain as riders split into teams, then cool off with drinks as Bosses Credit splashes water.
Charleston based Biking fam and volunteers from Augusta Freewheelers and Mecca Trails Association build attire parks and outdoor classrooms in Aiken and McCormick counties to boost nature based tourism. Nancy Lindroth says trails aim to attract visitors with future bike races and triathlons. 1000 hours already invested.
In February PALFED and Regions executives announced a merger plan in Aiken exchanging 10 PALFED shares for seven Regions shares. Hart, Bennett and Solomon allege a 1997 vote directed a sale or merger, yet Troutman called it non-binding, while PALFED allegedly pursued talks with Regions without timely disclosure to shareholders. The suit claims breaches of fiduciary duty and fraud for failing to inform investors about merger negotiations.
Kindergarten classes will be added this year at Aiken Christian Elementary School introducing first through fifth grade to new offerings. Classes will be held at Town Creek Baptist Church off Silver Bluff Road starting August 24 with details available at 648-5487 or 599-9763.
Registration dates for the 1998 99 school year in Aiken County public schools are set in August. New students and residents who moved over the summer should register before Monday Aug 17 to avoid delays. Area One and Area Two schedules, plus make up sessions, cover elementary middle and high schools across Aiken, North Augusta, Belvedere, and Warrenville. District numbers 641 2428 and 641 2639 provide more details.
