Dooley Emerges as Georgia Democrats Dream Candidate
Georgia Democrats shift from lackluster lists to Vince Dooley as a potential Senate hopeful to challenge Mack Mattingly. Dooley, UGA football coach for two decades with 168 wins and seven SEC titles, has long resisted public political bids. Democrats praise name recognition and the chance to fuse politics with Georgia football fervor. Dooley has not committed, noting he would run as a Southern Democrat and remains conservative to moderate in stance.
