Radium in SC wells prompts testing and plans for new water sources

State health officials say some South Carolina wells exceed EPA radium limits with two Jackson and Perry communities above the standard. DHEC offers testing for 50 dollars while a Charleston lab provides faster discounted testing at 176 dollars with no waiting list. Officials warn long-term exposure risks and note most high radium in the Inner Coastal Region. Community residents discuss testing and potential solutions as authorities consider new wells and further monitoring.
