Gene therapy trial aims to ease arthritis in humans
Carlene Lauffer, 69, volunteers for the first human gene therapy test for arthritis at the University of Pittsburgh. Lauffer will receive prosthetic joints next week, and eight more postmenopausal volunteers are sought to avoid inheritable gene transmission.
