Handicapped Enjoy Day of Skiing at Lake Murray

Josh Lamb, 12, and other disabled participants joined the Wee Can Ski event at Lake Murray for the second annual outing. Volunteers aided in water entry, life jackets were worn, and specialized equipment helped skiers six and older learn signals to communicate with the boat driver. Families attended as volleyball and pool activities complemented the day.

Municipal Cup honors PACT for community work in Aiken

Aiken’s PACT team of seven bicycle officers and volunteers won the Municipal Achievement Award for the seventh straight year. The group’s community outreach programs MOMS and COPS improved prenatal care and cut infant mortality from 12.1 to 7.2 in the county. The team also aided the Stone Soup project, helping beat Greenville in the competition.
