Ca boat a big hit at Maine lobster boat race
Maine lobstermen showcase a 1994 Pontiac Sunbird converted into a ca boat driven by Steve Johnson in Jonesport. The hovercraft-like craft attains speeds near 50 mph in lobster boat contests drawing crowds across Boothbay Harbor and other coastal towns. Johnson, 54, a longtime lobsterman and boatyard owner, built the vessel from a derelict cabin cruiser and a damaged Sunbird.
