Aiken County Council will discuss accepting an abandoned right of way in Belvedere from the South Carolina Department of Transportation and deeding it to McKnight Properties of Augusta for redevelopment. Administrator Clay Killian notes the old road bed stems from a realignment at Belvedere Clearwater Road and Edgefield Road.
Aiken County Council delegates meet today at 7 p m in the county chambers at 736 Richland Ave W Belvedere and Aiken County residents face a proposed road removal and property redevelopment. The agenda was altered this week removing three items related to the Savannah River Research Campus and Energy and Materials Laboratory plans amid discussions with McKnight Properties and a right of way deed.

Aiken City Council and the Planning Commission held a joint meeting to review eight action items planned for upcoming months. The session focused on discussion with no votes, covering the North side Transportation Study, zoning ordinance definitions for dwelling units, and building length in the Planned Residential Zone, plus potential amendments on inoperable vehicles, setbacks, and city services to unincorporated areas.
Aiken County teachers and other district staff received July paychecks that do not reflect 2012-13 pay increases approved by the state and district. Comptroller Tray Traxler said the state operates on a 2011-12 budget until the 2012-13 budget is approved, with August paychecks expected to include retroactive raises and a step increase for years of service.
