Texas judge Sharon Keller spared removal over death row case

Texas Court of Criminal Appeals presiding judge Sharon Keller received a public warning from the State Commission on Judicial Conduct after a 2007 death row appeal episode. The panel found willful or persistent conduct inconsistent with duties but did not remove her from office. Keller masked the incident amid protests from death penalty opponents and renewed calls for accountability. The decision followed years of debate over the last minute appeal for Michael Wayne Richard.
