Accidental Gunshot Sends Aiken Man to Surgery
An Aiken man identified as Shotte Widener, 24, is in fair condition after abdominal surgery at HCA Aiken Regional Medical Center for a self inflicted gunshot wound. He told deputies he shot himself accidentally while test firing a gun at his Route 3 home. The incident remains under investigation by the sheriff's department.

Plane Rolls Off Tarmac At Charleston Airport
At Charleston International Airport a World Airways DC 10 rolled backward off the tarmac into trees. Crews pulled and then started engines to drive the plane free. no injuries were reported. Only the pilot and possibly a co pilot were aboard after 5 p.m. officials said.
