Oldest turtle fossil found in Arizona date 185 million years ago

Researchers from the American Museum of Natural History and partners report a nearly complete fossil of a cryptodite turtle in Navajo tribal lands, Coconino County, Arizona. The 185 million year old remains push back the cryptodite record by 45 million years and indicate an aquatic, swimmer like early form of modern turtles.
