Spanish PM resists resignation amid texting scandal
Spain's prime minister Mariano Rajoy refused to resign as text messages emerged showing him comforting former Popular Party treasurer Luis Barcenas amid probe into a slush fund and secret Swiss accounts. Barcenas testified in Madrid about cash payments to Rajoy and Maria Dolores de Cospedal between 2008 and 2010, while Cospedal called the accusations new slander.
