Suspected scam targets elderly dementia patient in Aiken

The Aiken Department of Public Safety investigates after an unknown man posing as a contractor pressured an 84 year old dementia patient to authorize repairs. He offered roof cleaning for 30 dollars, later rising the bill to 1700 dollars with a second man on scene.

Donations Stuff the Bus with school supplies

Carriage House Inn Demolition Approved by Aiken Board

The City of Aiken Design Review Board unanimously approved Anne Thomasson to demolish parts of the Carriage House Inn property at 139 Laurens St. N.W. The plan includes a 6,000 square foot brick warehouse a two story brick apartment building a brick wall and a rear handicap ramp and porch. A two week information deadline was set on details such as a blank wall and covered porch. The Efron House of 1895 and the 1930s brick warehouse formerly used as a taxi garage are cited in the context of the property’s planned demolition.

Wagener Fire Chief Mark Redd and regional chiefs pressed Aiken County officials to revise EMS policy on LifeNet helicopter launches.
