Aiken police seek a Black male suspect, 5 feet tall and about 60 pounds, in a late night shooting that wounded Felix Murrell Tyler in the Crosland Park neighborhood. Tyler, 30, was hit in the leg and taken to a hospital for surgery. Police recovered three shell casings and describe the suspect’s clothing and gray four door car. A CN rail 107 car freight train derailed near Allenton sending 34 cars off track and causing three cars to burn though containing lumber waxes and plastics not hazardous. Potash was among derailed cargo and a fourth car with potato products smoldered. No injuries reported. Cleanup expected to take two days with bridge repairs needed. Authorities investigated track fault or mechanical failure as likely cause.
