Firefighter Browning honored seven years after fatal blaze

The Savannah River Site dedicates a half mile woodland trail to Robert B. Browning Jr., a forest firefighter killed July 6, 1994, in Glenwood Springs Colorado while battling the Storm King fire. Browning, a Marion North Carolina native, spent much of his career at SRS and is remembered as calm but driven. The ceremony honored Browning and 13 peers who died in wildland firefighting efforts, with SRS employees contributing to the memorial project and a commemorative plaque quoting lines about resting by cool water.
