Out-of-state donors flood South Carolina campaign finance
A review of campaign finance reports shows Gov. Mark Sanford and Karen Floyd attracting large maxed-out gifts mainly from out-of-state donors and donors using the same New York address. The practice extends to multiple donors at shared addresses in Denver and Columbia as spouses and families contribute, highlighting a trend toward large, repeated contributions in SC campaigns.

Hunleys hatch may have been unlocked before sinking
Archaeologists studying the Hunley say X rays show the forward hatch open during the 1864 loss off Sullivan's Island. Researchers note sand accumulation and possible locking mechanism fragments found near Lt. George Dixon's crew as evidence the hatch may have been opened intentionally the night the submarine disappeared.
