Elderly Women Starved and Billed at Illegal Boarding Home

Five elderly former mental patients in Ocean Township New Jersey were fed minimal meals and had their Social Security checks cashed by owners Rosemary Scorp and Josephine Scorp at two illegal boarding homes. Investigators say the women lived in filthy conditions with no operable toilets, some kept on filthy, cramped floors while diets consisted mostly of soups and dog food reported by a neighbor. The state probes potential criminal charges as welfare workers reported tips leading to a July raid and further inquiries into the other residents’ whereabouts.
