Grace Harris Whaley of Audubon Circle faces potential charges after attempting to have a dog adopted for her. She previously pleaded guilty in June to ill treatment of animals and unsanitary conditions, with a judge warning of up to 61 more counts. Aiken County deputies responded to an animal shelter report of her waiting on a friend to obtain a dog.
A 13 year old Belvedere boy died after a Thursday head on wreck on Belvedere Clearwater Road near Cherry Avenue. Raymond Groomes 15 died earlier. both boys were sons of Elizabeth Joy Groomes. Four other riders were hurt including two who were thrown from the truck. Cawley 26 of North Augusta drove the other car. he wore a seat belt and was treated and released. The State Patrol said no new details were available Friday evening as the investigation continues.
