Contact stuns summer crowd with space epic and star power

A review lauds Contact as a grand scale science fiction that challenges the mind and senses. Jodie Foster anchors the film with conviction while Matthew McConaughey struggles in a vague role. James Woods Tom Skerritt and Rob Lowe deliver style as villains, John Hurt shines as a Hughesian billionaire, Angela Bassett adds steadiness as a presidential aide, and Bill Clinton appears as himself amid Zemeckis magic. Warner Bros releases the PG film produced by Zemeckis and Steve Sharkey, screenplay by Hart and Goldenberg.

Montmorenci Vale and the Dibble Legacy in Montmorenci

A historic tale tracing Montmorenci from its 1800s origins to modern times. James Achille DeCaradellc renamed Conway’s Valley Montmorenci, built a home that fire destroyed, then sold land to Augustus Ruxton and later James Buchanan and Henry Montgomery Dibble. Dibble expanded farming, built a stone house, and created a model dairy. Upon his 1921 death, roads and a Dibble Building memorialize him while the Vale later passed to William Woolsey II and Gilbert McMillan and became a subdivision off Old Dibble Road.

The fragile floor, old pews, and community milestones show a rural faith enduring schisms in 1928 and 1945 while current pastor Rev. Charles Oglesby guides a small devoted congregation tracing its origins to D. F. Goldman and Rev. Albert Fitts.
