Gender parity in heart attack survival highlighted by study

A New England Journal of Medicine report found women and men have similar survival in the first month after a heart attack, despite women often receiving less aggressive treatment. The study of 138,956 Medicare patients from 1994 and 1995 notes women waited longer for care and had fewer procedures, though certain medicines were received at similar or higher rates for women.

Liver stem cells found in bone marrow study sparks new healing path

A Yale and NYU led study shows liver cells can originate from bone marrow. In patients with transplants, male donor marrow contributed Y chromosomes to female patients' livers and vice versa, suggesting self derived stem cells could treat liver disease.
