Public Safety Advice Warns Seniors About Vacation Thieves
The Senior Men's Club of Aiken heard from Aiken Department of Public Safety Sgt. Jennifer Bickel on vacation and home security. She urged notifying Public Safety of absences, arranging a trusted contact, keeping blinds unchanged, and stopping mail and newspaper deliveries to avoid inviting thieves. She cautioned against announcing travel plans on social media.
Home burglary tips from Aiken Public Safety officer
Bickel advises homeowners to maintain yards and lights to simulate occupancy, bring in bikes and mowers, check alarms, and avoid posting vacation plans or home address online.
