Illegal immigrant sentenced to 18 months in federal prison
Abizahi Garduno Rivera, a 34 year old Mexican national, was sentenced to 18 months in federal custody for illegal re entry. He will face three years supervised release and must surrender for deportation after his sentence. He was arrested in Aiken County on September 5, 2013 for trafficking methamphetamine possession of hydrocodone and weapons charges. The case was handled by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Columbia with federal authorities noting prior deportations in 1998 2006 and a Georgia sentence for cocaine trafficking. Garduno Rivera faced a maximum 20 years and a 250000 fine for illegal re entry.

A Graniteville woman told the Aiken Department of Public Safety that her manager shoved a bag with a solid object against her rib cage and threatened to shoot at about 2 30 p m on July 2 at a business on East Gate Drive.
