Sister aided Evonitz flee during manhunt in South Carolina
The sister of Richard Marc Evonitz helped him check into a hotel in her name as the search for the kidnapper and alleged killer intensified. Authorities questioned Kristen Weyand about possible tips from other relatives and noted a bank withdrawal and motel departure before Evonitz shot himself in Florida. Investigators also consider links to Jessica Lynn Carpenter's 2000 murder in Aiken.
