Slick streets in Pamplona during the San Fermin morning run left two people slightly injured as bulls and daredevils tumbled. Rain made the 825 yard dash slippery and several bulls separated from the pack, a danger warned by experts.
An Air Force investigation board will probe the crash of Capt. Mitchell A. Bulmann 27 who died when his F 16CJ crashed about 40 miles east of Charleston off Cape Romain Friday as Staff Sgt. Brian Jones reports.

Lilian Thomas, owner of Child's Play Academy, seeks a nonprofit Midland Valley Preparatory School in Graniteville as an extension serving 4 year olds through sixth grade. In April she filed a grant to the South Carolina Department of Education, and a $170,000 planning and implementation grant was approved in June with $20,000 for planning and $150,000 for facilities and resources.
An 82 year old Bamberg resident Sarah Carter Brown was killed in her home. Police say drawers were opened but the house not burglarized. SLED joined the probe after a local contact in Orangeburg, neighbors express shock and caution.
Aiken native and longtime community benefactor John Elliott died Sunday at Mattie C. Hall Health Care Center at age 84. He received South Carolina’s Order of the Palmetto last month for his civic work, including Helping Hands, Habitat for Humanity, and youth prevention programs. Elliott helped plan parks, led shelter efforts, and served on multiple boards, leaving a legacy of community service.
Senate Democrat Tommy Moore of Clear Water said he is considering a run for lieutenant governor but not yet an announced candidate. He plans groundwork over weeks with a decision possible after the August 13 special session. Moore, elected to the Senate in 1980, says he would not jeopardize two decades of work. He has chaired a task force that passed the Solid Waste Act and previously ran for Congress in 1994.
