Clinic trains area rescuers in large animal rescue

Local rescue team members joined a training class at the Carolina Equine Clinic led by Dr. Tomas Gimenez and Rebecca Gimenez of Clemson University. Clemson field veterinarian Dr. Venaye P. Reece attended. participants included ADPS Special Operations Rescue Team members, volunteer fire personnel, animal control units, EMS, veterinarians, and county and city agencies. The session outlined uprighting overturned trailers, corralling horses with fencing, dragging with cords, and vertical lifts using a tow truck, with Sancho and Karma the Gimenez horses aiding realism.
