Hollings Says Barnwell Plant Is Safest In Nation

U S Senator Ernest F Hollings toured the Allied General Nuclear Services facility in Barnwell and addressed about 300 workers under the noon sun. He affirmed the plant will not be scrapped and will be used for reprocessing spent nuclear fuel, saying there is no safer facility in the country.

Hollings Tours AGNS Plant in South Carolina Visit

U S Senator Hollings and S C Senator Knotts toured the AGNS plant, joined by plant manager Gale K Hovey and AGNS leaders Ray mond C Baxter James A Buckham and Jerry Halverson. New Hampshire Civil Suit Dismissed Over Seabrook Protest

A federal court dismissed the multimillion dollar suit against Gov. Meldrim Thomson and Attorney General David Souther by Seabrook nuclear plant protesters. Judge Hugh Bownes ruled there was no conspiracy to arrest demonstrators as punishment for opposing the plant and that their nearly two week confinement did not violate constitutional rights.
