Aiken Standard experienced a telephone outage on Friday from about 11 30 a m until 6 p m due to a faulty circuit board in the office on Rutland Drive. The disruption affected both incoming and outgoing lines and hindered advertisers and customers.

Single car crash kills New Ellenton man on US 78

James Andrew Buckham, 71, died at the scene of a Friday afternoon single car collision on US 278 near an embankment. Deputy Coroner Greg Bailey and Coroner Sue Townsend confirmed Buckham was not wearing a seatbelt and died from head injuries.
