Old Storm Branch Baptist Church in Clearwater will celebrate its 218th anniversary with a 2:30 p.m. service led by Rev. Mark Adams of Young Storm Branch Baptist Church, Langley. Music by the Young Storm Branch Choir and a Bicentennial Mass Choir in period costumes, followed by an old fashioned dinner on the grounds. Church records trace origins to 1772 with early slave members, and Velma Lawrence notes the long lineage of pastors culminating with Rev. Nathaniel Irvin, installed in 1980 as the 15th pastor. The building preserves early American architectural style and recently restored stained glass windows.

Garden Show in Columbia Honors Garden Clubs Centenary
Local gardeners staged the Show of Shows sponsored by the Judges Club of Carolina in Columbia to honor the late Sarah Fleimister Metz and to mark the 60th anniversary of the Garden Clubs of South Carolina. Cereus Gardeners leaders chaired the event, with exhibits across artistic design education and horticulture. A time capsule entombed in 1990 at South Carolina Memorial Gardens will be opened in 2030.

All Sports Camp Set At USC Aiken
The 1990 All Sports Camp will run July 9 to 13 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at USC Aiken. It offers golf, tennis, basketball, volleyball, soccer, softball, archery and swimming for girls and boys, taught by athletic director Randy Warrick and USC Aiken staff. The five day camp costs $99, including instruction lunch T shirts and insurance for all campers.
