AP reports in Harris Missouri an 8 year old boy named Frankie Holt suffered critical Burns over about a third of his body when sparkler booby traps ignited his clothing after he refueled a tractor and opened a screen door rigged with sparklers. His 14 year old sister Annie helped extinguish the flames with pillows.
Florida Highway Patrol set up a speed check in Jacksonville to curb holiday speeding. Troopers, busy writing tickets, suddenly saw no violations for 20 minutes after David Kirsch carried a sign reading Beware speed trap ahead. He also received an obstructing justice charge.
