Water and Rivers Shape South Carolina Heritage
South Carolina relies on abundant water resources to sustain gardens and communities. The Edisto and Pee Dee river systems, the Santee and its diversions, and the Pinopolis and St Stephens hydro plants shaped by Roosevelt era works are described, detailing canal diversions, hydropower, and the state’s 11,000 miles of flowing rivers supporting life and economy.
