County Council Holds Budget Victory in Aiken County
After weeks of tense negotiations the Aiken County Council approved the 1978 79 budget raising the tax millage to eight with a fallback six mills if state funds of 5 million are released. The plan totals 7 498 034 at eight mills and 7 362 034 at six mills. The sheriff and aging council faced funding cuts while new county functions add about 20 000 to the litter officer post.

Power outages hit San Francisco and Northwest states
