Aiken's Carolina Bay From Extra to Park Preserve
Archibald Rutledge’s Life’s Extras is cited as inspiration for Aiken’s Carolina Bay Park, a project led by ACOLT to preserve a Carolina Bay near Whiskey Road. The city owns ten acres and ACOLT plans to acquire fourteen more to hand over to the city, creating a quiet natural area with native plants and a six tenths mile trail amid loblolly pines and sweetgum.
