SRS Waste Processing Facility Enters Final Phase Of Testing
The Defense Waste Processing Facility at Savannah River Site has begun mercury runs, the final test pours before radioactive operations. Since June 1994, DWPF has filled 48 canisters and poured over 32 test glass canisters using non-radioactive simulants. Steve Richardson of DOE SRL says the mercury runs mark a strong step toward regulatory approval.
