Savannah River Site to Receive 147 Million Under Proposed Bill
The Savannah River Site could gain 147.5 million dollars if a conference committee approves the bill. Of this, 97.6 million would fund environmental restoration and waste management, while 50 million supports the materials program to provide nuclear materials for defense and research. Thurmond notes 38 million for environmental health projects and 12 million for construction. The act also adds 20.6 million for Army Corps work in the state amid over 1 billion in cuts from last year. He praises the bill for funding key projects while reducing overall spending.
