South Carolina Aquarium opens in Charleston harbor area
The South Carolina Aquarium, set to open May 19 2000 along the Charleston harbor, will feature a two level ocean gallery with a 322000 gallon Great Ocean Tank, 60000 exhibits, and over 500 species. The 93000 square foot building is 95 percent complete and designed to withstand hurricanes with essential systems on backup power.
