Rebels demand halt of offensive as journalists held in Arauca
Rebels say they will release journalists only after the Colombian army halts operations in Arauca. ELN demands a stop to bombardment and killings in the oil-rich area, while two kidnapped journalists from the Los Angeles Times remain in custody. Mor ris and Dalton appeared on clandestine radio broadcasts stating they are in good health and hope for release. FARC meanwhile freed a five-member Colombian TV crew abducted over the weekend. The 38-year civil war in Colombia has claimed about 3,500 lives.
