Chamber Head Walke Gets Du Pont Move
W. Pat Walke Jr newly installed president of the Aiken Chamber of Commerce is transferred from Savannah River Plant to Du Pont headquarters in Wilmington Delaware. He will become personnel manager in the Personnel and Employee Relations Division of the petrochemicals department starting March 1. Hammie L. Chaplin Jr. will replace Walke as chamber head.

UM&M Executive Thomas Carter Resigns After 36 Years
Thomas W. Carter senior vice president at United Merchants and Manufacturing has resigned after 36 years. A move to Ameritex plain goods division would relocate him to New York. Paul Marx will replace the supervisor role while Bob Matthews may fill the Greenville post. The departure was amicable and Carter cited personal reasons. Carter is a Langley native.

Three Named In Pot Charge In Aiken
Aiken residents were arrested for possession of more than a pound of marijuana with intent to distribute by the D C Highway Patrol and the Aiken Narcotics Division. William Henry Rendsland 18 was charged with possession with intent to distribute unlawful weapon and DUI after a stop near New Ellenton. Cynthia Ruth Brunson 19 and Clay Lewis Fulmer 20 were charged with possession with intent to distribute. Fulmer also faced public drunkenness.
