A survey finds most area service stations out or close to empty with rising prices. Soc Station No. 2 on York Street reports 49.8 cents regular and 53.8 cents premium while Lambs Gulf on Whiskey Road has been out for a week and Boatwright's Gulf on York Street shows 44.9 cents regular and 48.9 cents premium. Belvedere Exxor near Edgefield Avenue notes out of gas with last allotment drained. one station quotes 56 cents regular and 54 cents premium.

Political Rally Tonight Aiken County Board candidates meet

Tonight at 8 pm the USCA Auditorium hosts a political rally for Aiken County Board of Education candidates. Reginald Boyleston seeks Administrative Area No 4 unopposed. Administrative Area No 1 hopefuls are Olin D Osbon Charles G Perkins and Emilie Towler. at large seat contenders are Ben Rusche Henry P Fulmer and Jean Rhodes Anderson. The event is hosted by the Aiken Standard and Greater Aiken Chamber of Commerce.
