Carriage Wreck Injures Driver in Hitchcock Woods

A carriage driver was injured Saturday afternoon when her carriage wrecked in Hitchcock Woods. Ken and Rita Hardin rescued her and took her to Rye Patch off Whiskey Road. She was transported to an area hospital with leg injuries after the carriage ran over her leg. the horse escaped unharmed near the Aiken County Historical Museum.

Savannah River tritium project faces six million penalty

The Westinghouse Savannah River Co faces a 6 million penalty after a new tritium project ran 17 months late and exceeded budget by over 100 million. The extraction facility now costs 506 million and will operate by July 2007 rather than February 2006.

Molly's Militia formed to rescue shelter dogs and cats

Van der Linden started Molly's Militia after adopting Molly the red cocker spaniel. Volunteers visit shelters in Aiken, Augusta, Chester and Anderson every Saturday for adoptions at SuperPetz and Petsmart. They need fosters, donations, and sponsor support to fund medical care and shelter improvements.

University Theatre to audition for Company musical

USC Aiken’s University Theatre will hold open auditions for the musical Company on January 28 and 29 at 7 p.m. in the Etherredge Center O’Connell Theatre. Casting needs at least six men and eight women 18 or older. Readings from the script and an upbeat song from a musical comedy are required.
