Aiken District Awards Scholarship To Local Clemson Student
The Aiken Soil and Water Conservation District grants a $1000 scholarship to an Aiken County college student each year. This year’s recipient is Elizabeth Anne Pirkle of Aiken, a Clemson Univ senior in Biological Sciences Pre Vet. Recipients are chosen on need, character, leadership, and agricultural career goals.

District Meetings at Aiken Conservation District and USDA programs
The Aiken Conservation District holds monthly meetings on the second Thursday at 1pm in the Agriculture Building auditorium on Richland Avenue. USDA programs offer cost share and technical assistance, including CRP EQIP and WHIP, to conserve soil water and wildlife habitat on private land with access to rest, restoration, and stewardship options.

Outstanding Cooperator of the Year Honored in Aiken
The Aiken Soil and Water Conservation District presents its Outstanding Cooperator of the Year Award to Joe Wilson a teacher at Aiken High School. Wilson and his FFA team earned numerous 1999 honors and have spent 25 years teaching and guiding Future Farmers of America. Their program earned the FFA Three Star Status for student, chapter and community development.
