Teacher dies at Oakwood Windsor Elementary

A second grade teacher Taffey Roe, 28, collapsed in the hallway at Windsor Elementary on Friday morning and died after CPR and EMS arrival. Deputy Coroner Tim Carlton said no investigation will be opened. Principal Dr. Alice Sheehan and Dr. Frank Roberson noted counselors would assist students and families in the days ahead.

Trucker in wreck dies of heart attack

A tractor trailer driver involved in a Monday collision on S C 19 died Friday of a heart attack at the Medical College of Georgia. Richard Harold Ellis, 76, of Savannah, had been hospitalized with minor injuries after the crash that killed Mitchell E. Smith, 31, and his 3 month old son Dylan, when Ellis’ truck failed to stop and collided with Smith’s Chevrolet Tahoe. An autopsy was planned for Monday morning. The wreck occurred after a vehicle in front of Ellis stopped to turn onto Powell Pond Road. Sgt. Jones Gamble of the S C Highway Patrol provided the report.

Lawyer claims life threatened in South Carolina case

Ivan Smith a labor lawyer for a New York firm representing black workers in a Savannah River Site class action testified that two calls threatened his life and a vehicle attempt occurred in Aiken while he was there for the case. He said he dodged the car after seeing it speed toward him.

Warrenville installs automatic warning signals on Main Street grade crossing costing about 97000 dollars.
